Maybe they were too busy with the demagoguery to notice, but Sen. Obama promised greater intervention in Northern Pakistan as a strategy in the war in Afghanistan and took an unapologetically hawkish position on Operation Enduring Freedom. This was not a small campaign issue. 2008 candidates Romney, McCain and Clinton criticized him for these remarks; ridiculing him for wanting to bomb Pakistan. Yet refusing to take the war to Northern Pakistan while simultaneously committing oneself to a war against the Taliban (as all viable Dem and GOP candidates in 2008 did) is akin to fighting the Vietcong,board617.typepad.com. but refusing to take the war to North Vietnam.
He also criticized Obamas gun control package that the president unveiled last week in wake of the Dec. 14 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., where 20 children and six others were killed.
