The district is old and established on the west side of Phoenix. It has always been small and had a mily feeling to it. Recent administrators have focused on the feeling of mily and has done a lot to foster the tone.
The salary schedules for varying employee groups are marketable.
A small percentage of staff members like to complain about anything. This is visible from all employee groups. The complainers usually want things their way and do not appreciate being held accountable for their actions and comments.
There are more employees who are student focused than those who are in it for the paycheck. Remember to thank those along the way that have great attendance and make no excuses for things that dont go well.

The district experienced growth in student enrollment for 5-7 years. The budget was healthy. The last two years due to the housing market slow down. The student enrollment growth is no longer visible. In actuality the student enrollment is decreasing. Administration has had to make some unvorable decisions to keep the district financially sound. Staff members did not receive a pay raise for the current school year. This district was not alone. There were others throughout the state and nation that ced the same difficulties.
The district has tried to emphasize small class sizes.

The school board is very accepting and non confrontational. They stay out of the day to day workings of the district.
Senior management has issues. Never visible. Aloof. Payroll has had several problems. Rotating door at senior management level. No pay raise this year. Teachers at one school had to sign an allegiance oath or were told they would have problems.

Principals are generally supportive and work hard to help the staff.
Two schools were in academic distress for the last 2-3 years. District administration and staff at one particular school worked together diligently to make changes. This school made progress and is no longer in academic distress.
Decisions made by the Governing Board, administration and teaching staff are student focused.
The staff members at all levels are committed to the students of the district.
